Job Description
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), will be responsible for assisting the provider in preparing patients and their charts for clinical appointments. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to managing the flow of clients through the clinic, obtaining vital signs, and assisting the provider in clinical procedures. Travel between Bowen Health service locations may be required for coverage of clinic services.
Duties/Responsibilities Below are the primary duties and essential functions of an employee in this position. While not all tasks may be performed by every employee in this role, all employees are expected to perform related tasks as needed. These essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. - Prepare client charts/information for the provider appointments, ensuring that documentation is accurate and comprehensive.
- Obtain and document vital signs.
- Complete a thorough medication reconciliation.
- Track and coordinate data pertinent to client plan of care.
- Provide medication education and care instructions.
- Complete phone calls.
- Manage patient medication assistance process.
- Complete prior authorizations for medications and procedures.
- Use standard precautions/OSHA guidelines in patient care and disposal of medical waste.
- Complete and submit billing documents.
- Review all outpatient medication storage and administration locations for monthly pharmacy review.
- Track and log refrigerator temperatures and equipment maintenance.
- Complete continuing education to maintain medical assisting certification.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities - Demonstrates commitment to and practices in line with Bowen Health’s core values of respect, integrity, mission and stewardship.
- Basic medical skills, including but not limited to obtaining vital signs, medication reconciliation, administration of oral and injectable medications, and basic clinical procedures preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team environment.

- Basic computer skills.
Required Qualifications - Education: Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant credentials required.
- Experience: Certification in Medical Assisting through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Health Career Association (NHA), or registered Medical Assistant in the state of Indiana.
- Certificate or Professional License: Prefer one (1) years of experience working in a medical office and/or psychiatric setting.
- Valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage.
- Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks
- Must be a minimum 21 years of age.
