Job Summary:
As a Dental Assistant, you will support doctors and hygienists in delivering exceptional restorative dentistry. You will play a key role in patient comfort, chairside assistance, infection control, and practice efficiency. This position emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and a proactive approach to learning and training.
Core Responsibilities:
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for procedures, ensuring cleanliness and sterilization according to OSHA and practice standards.
- Assist dentists with restorative procedures including fillings, crowns, inlays/onlays, veneers, in-office CAD/CAM restorations, and other restorative treatments.
- Take and process digital radiographs (and other imaging as needed) and assist with CBCT imaging setup and safety protocols.
- Perform digital scanning for intraoral scans, impression workflows, and digital models as required.
- Manage patient charts and digital records, ensuring accurate documentation of procedures, medications, and treatment plans.
- Obtain and update patient health histories, vital signs, and ensure informed consent is documented.
- Prepare and process temporary restorations, impression materials, and restorative appliances.
- Sterilize, organize, and stock instruments; assist with inventory management and ordering supplies.
- Maintain patient comfort and chairside assistance during procedures; anticipate clinician needs and provide efficient support.
- Coordinate with front desk and scheduling software to optimize appointment flow and follow-up visits.
- Adhere to infection control policies and participate in practice-wide hygiene and safety protocols.
- Participate in monthly training sessions and contribute to learning discussions, skill development, and shared best practices.
Qualifications:
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) preferred.
- Proficiency with digital radiography and intraoral scanning; familiarity with CBCT and CAD/CAM workflows is a plus.
- Experience using dental practice management software (appointment scheduling, charting, digital records).
- Strong understanding of infection control, sterilization, and OSHA standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build rapport with patients and team members.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to support colleagues across roles.
