Ingersoll Rand’s Internal Audit Department plays a crucial role in making sure our company runs effectively and follows important policies and regulations. As an? IT Audit Intern reporting to our IT Audit Manager, you will participate in a variety of IT audit activities – such as assisting in the execution of SOX walkthroughs and testing, operational IT audits, and special projects – all while being guided by the wider IT Audit Team. This internship offers a hands-on learning experience in a supportive, professional environment, great for someone who wants to understand how auditing of IT systems works in a global company and explore emerging technologies like Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and data analytics.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Participate in walkthroughs to see how IT controls work within the business.

  1. Prepare clear, timely documentation (workpapers) showing how IT controls are designed and work.

  1. Assist in follow-up, remediation, and mitigation on audit findings.

  1. Work with the global audit team, external auditors, other interns, and business/IT contacts to complete audit tasks accurately and on-time.

  1. Participate in a special project using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or data analytics, and present the project at the end of the internship.

  • Gain an understanding of Ingersoll Rand’s brands and business operations.

  • Become familiar with company policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Learn fundamental auditing processes and the role of Internal Audit.

  • Learn about key IT processes, risks, and control measures.

  • Get exposure to various IT systems and audit technologies.

  • Gain hands-on experience with RPA and/or analytics. 

  • Understand how cybersecurity impacts IT auditing.

  • Understand the basics of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance for IT Audits.

  • Develop clear professional communication and documentation skills.

  • Enhance problem-solving skills through root-cause analysis of issues.

  • Improve time management by balancing multiple audit tasks and deadlines.
