Job Description

We are seeking skilled and experienced Medical Technologists (MTs) to support clinical diagnostic operations in a high-volume healthcare environment. This is a 5-year contract position requiring professionals who can function as Generalists across core laboratory disciplines and contribute to essential diagnostic services within a 24/7 clinical setting. This position does not include on-call, overtime, or holiday shifts . Candidates will work a variety of 8-hour shifts during regular operating hours and will receive their schedules 2–4 weeks in advance , based on patient care and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of laboratory tests across: Chemistry , Hematology , Coagulation, Blood Bank , Immunology , Urinalysis, Microbiology (preferred, not required)

• Process specimens and generate accurate, timely test results

• Operate, calibrate, and maintain clinical laboratory equipment

• Conduct quality control procedures and document findings

• Troubleshoot instrumentation and implement corrective actions

• Comply with regulatory standards (VA, CAP, AABB, FDA, Joint Commission)

• Document and communicate critical lab results per policy

• Participate in regular competency assessments, QA/QI initiatives, and proficiency testing

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in:

• Medical Laboratory Science
• Medical Technology
• Clinical Laboratory Science
• Or a related field

Certification:

• ASCP (MT/MLS) or AMT (CLS)

Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Generalist Medical Technologist

Must meet VA credentialing requirements:

• Proof of immunizations
• Negative TB test
• OIG Clearance
• Letter of Commitment
• (CRCST certification optional but preferred at submission)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Microbiology
• Prior experience working in a VA or government hospital setting
• Familiarity with high-complexity lab environments and 24/7 operations

Work Schedule

This is a full-time contract role with no holidays, no overtime, and no on-call duties .
Candidates will work one of seven possible 8-hour shifts , including:

• 0700 AM – 0330 PM
• 0730 AM – 0400 PM
• 0800 AM – 0430 PM
• 1030 AM – 0700 PM
• 1130 AM – 0800 PM
• 1230 PM – 0900 PM
• 0330 PM – 1200 AM

Schedules are determined based on facility needs and provided with 2–4 weeks notice .

Benefits

Pay Rate: $20.00 – $32.00/hour

Contract Type: W-2 hourly contract

Travel/Relocation Expenses: Not eligible

Duration: 5 years (09/01/2025 – 09/01/2030)

Hours: 8 hours/day, 5 days/week (40 hours/week)
